NEWLY appointed head of sales for Redrow Homes in the North West, Anna Evans-Kerr, has adapted quickly to a brand new role and led her team in adapting to a novel way of working in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Having originally joined the company as a sales consultant seven years ago, Anna has risen quickly through the ranks. She was appointed head of sales just days before the UK entered a nationwide lockdown, presenting her with more challenges than most taking on a new leadership role.
As Redrow’s sales offices were forced to temporarily close in March, Anna’s first job was to support a rapid move to home working for her sales and marketing team of managers, co-ordinators and on-site consultants, whilst ensuring Redrow’s customers could still be fully supported.
Now sales offices are open again, she has helped her team to adjust quickly and efficiently to adhere to social distancing and safe working practices at developments across Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales.
Anna said: “The key emphasis is to work within Government and industry guidelines to keep employees and customers safe, but also offer our home buyers an enjoyable experience while purchasing their new home. In addition to strict social distancing, these measures include greater use of technology to demonstrate each development and its homes, thus reducing the need for paper brochures.
“Initially our sales centres re-opened on an appointment only basis but as lockdown has gradually been relaxed, we are now able to receive customers without an appointment. However, the social distancing measures within the sales office and show homes remain to ensure everyone’s safety.”
Redrow believes that the use of technology and many of the steps taken have actually improved the customer journey in some areas.
Anna explained: “For home buyers who may not be able to visit our sales offices and show homes, we are now offering video call appointments, which can be booked via our website just like booking a phone call or a visit to site. During these virtual appointments, customers are still able to ‘meet’ face to face with their sales consultant and can be shown the interactive screens in our sales offices as if they were there.”
Anna added that all new safety measures had been welcomed by employees and customers alike and, based on the number of reservations taken since re-opening, were in no way discouraging potential purchasers from visiting or reserving a new home.
While Anna’s first few months as head of sales have proved a huge test, it is one which she and her team have come through confidently. “I am so proud of the sales team adapting to all the changes and also keeping so positive throughout the pandemic,” said Anna.
Anna’s experience of working in sales and customer service positions for premium brands in the car and airline sectors, including Mercedes Benz, will now stand her in good stead to take Redrow’s brand forward as the company looks to build on its strong reputation in the North West and North Wales.
Her appointment came after sales director Jason Newton was promoted to the role of managing director for the North West division, based at Daresbury, Cheshire
Anna added: “We’re facing some challenges within the industry right now but fundamentally we have a solid base, a very high quality product and excellent forward land. We’ve recently opened some exciting new developments including King’s Moat Garden Village in Chester and we’ve unveiled show homes at Allerton Gardens in Liverpool. Our Tabley Park development in Knutsford is also due to go on sale later this year.
“The North West is also a hotbed for Redrow’s ‘Garden Village’ concept. We have three such developments open, all of which are proving very popular and providing our customer with highly desirable places to live with an abundance of green spaces and community facilities. Our existing garden villages in Woodford and Ledsham are progressing well and Kings Moat Garden Village has added to the portfolio, while we’re also getting ready to launch our next one alongside our offices in Daresbury.”
Prior to taking on her latest role for the NW division, Anna completed a three-month stint at Redrow’s Midlands division as interim head of sales and before that was an area sales manager for the North West for five years.
She said: “Having seen how other divisions operate and having worked in a number of different roles previously at Redrow NW, I feel I have a great insight into how to manage sales in this division and understand the roles of every member of the team. They are a fantastic group of people to work with.”
Anna, who lives in a Redrow home in Cheshire, added: “I’m aiming to maintain our high standards and 5-star customer satisfaction rating. It’s a product I’m very proud of and a company I love working for.”
Jason Newton, managing director for Redrow Homes (NW) said: “Anna has an excellent track record for delivering sales in her previous roles and I have no doubt she will enjoy every success as head of sales. Her enthusiasm, drive and excellent people skills mean she is well-respected by her colleagues and a great asset to the company.”
